KLAW Cryogenic Breakaway Couplings

The KLAW Cryogenic Breakaway Coupling has long been proven to deliver reliability in the field. It is designed to activate under a bending moment. The applied force being an angle of 90 degrees to the plane of the coupling.

Suitable for Multiple LNG transfer solutions, Liquid Oxygen, Ethylene, Ethane and many more. With operating temperatures to -196°C (-320°F), you can be assured KLAW coupling will suit your needs. Standard coupling housings are stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium. Other materials are available on request.

Standard nominal bores available: 1” (580 psi) to 12” (145 psi). Couplings are offered subject to customers approval and acceptance of specification. Higher pressure and higher flow rates are available on request.

End Connections

  • NPT Threaded Male or Female.

  • Flanged Connections (ANSI 150/PN16 ANSI 300/PN40).
  • Weld Prepared Ends (Schedule 40).

Breaking Loads

Coupling break-loads can be varied to suit any particular application.

KLAW Cryogenic Emergency Release Coupling (ERC)

This system uses a collar release mechanism.

This range is suitable for operating temperatures to -196°C (-320°F).

Ensuring 100% closure: even in the most demanding of operating conditions.

Sizes from 1” to 12”.

With utilisation of a collar release mechanism rather than KLAW’s regular breakstud release options, the collar release offers a set predetermined activation point before there is any over extension of the attached loading system or hose assembly.

Industrial Gases

Industrial gas Breakaway Couplings in cryogenic conditions are typically installed for service for Liquid Nitrogen, Liquid Helium, Liquid Oxygen and many more.

The Emergency Release Coupling offers a safe identifiable parting point within the transfer system, offering protection to your personnel and equipment.

Typically KLAW has been requested to supply Bunkering, Refueling and Loading Arm coupling solutions within cryogenic Industrial Gas transfer systems, however, each coupling can be tailored to suit your exact product transfer system and operating conditions.

All KLAW units for Cryogenic application are tested on site to ensure they conform to the highest of industry and safety standards. Once tested all couplings are supplied with test certification which is provided at no extra cost.
